Our popular pre-Christmas day excursion this year makes its usual initial journey from Hastings via Battle, Etchingham, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Orpington and Bromley South. We then travel around west and north London before taking the route through Harlow and Bishop’s Stortford to Cambridge.
Cambridge is a very interesting city made famous by its university which was established in the 13th century. We anticipate spending around four hours at our destination, which should allow time for exploring the historic city centre or perhaps for shopping somewhere different for those elusive Christmas presents.
Our train has a well-stocked Buffet Car. A selection of hot and cold snacks and drinks will be available throughout the day at reasonable prices.
The Club Class fare includes food and drinks throughout both journeys, and an evening meal with wine is served on our way home. Why not spoil yourself!
We are particularly proud of the party atmosphere on our excursions at this time of the year, and this will be complemented by Christmas decorations on the train, and mince pie and wine for all our passengers on our return journey.
Our train will run as a seven-car formation with three motor coaches. The newly-refurbished Mountfield will be making its inaugural long-distance trip and it will be available for standard-class travel.
These are the timings as received from Railtrack.
