1001 departs St. Leonards Depot for a day in service

At 10:10 on Tuesday 23 November 2004, the three-car formation of our DEMU accelerates onto the main line outside St. Leonards depot. It was about to enter service at Hastings with the 10:24 to Ashford International. Having two motor coaches in a 3-car unit provides a very favourable power-to-weight ratio, that can see line speed reached in under a minute. Photo by Mike Pannell.
