Monday 29 July saw the return of 1001 to operation on the Ashford & Hastings line for South Central; this was its first appearance since the winter. It subsequently worked the line on Monday & Tuesday 5 & 6 August. The following week, all six carriages of 1001, plus Mountfield, passed their routine Ultrasonic Axle Tests with flying colours on Tuesday 13 August.
